Larry Johnson visited Obi at his school on Tuesday, and then visited Obi's parents later that evening. Obi lives in a campus dorm during the school year.
"Coach Larry Johnson just left about 30 minutes ago," Obi's father, Albert Oluigbo said Tuesday night. "He called me on Sunday to tell me that he was coming to see us. He met Obi and his coach at his school today, and then he came here. We spent a lot of time together. He's a nice guy. I've met him a couple of times before.
"We'll be [at Penn State] on Friday for an official visit. Our whole family is going, me, Obi, his mother and my daughter. This will be the third time I've been to Penn State. I went to the Michigan game with Obi. The first time was when Obi went there for a camp this summer.
"This is the first time that my wife met Coach Johnson. She has never been to Penn State before."
According to Obi's father, Obi does not have a written offer yet, although several schools including Michigan are very interested as well.
"Not yet. [Coach Johnson] said they would, but there's nothing written on paper yet."
Obi does not have any other official visits scheduled yet.
"He's taking the one to Penn State this weekend, but he doesn't know about the others yet."
