A Decision is Imminent

Philadelphia St. Joseph's Prep linebacker Steve Quinn has been mulling over several scholarship offers. Has a favorite team come to the forefront? When will he have his final decision made?

Name: Steve Quinn
Position: OLB
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 215 pounds
40 Speed: 4.52 seconds
Hometown/School: Philadelphia, Pa. (St. Joseph's Prep)

Though still reeling from Saturday's 38-12 loss to Pittsburgh's Central Catholic in the inaugural Pennsylvania Kickoff Classic, Steve gave LionNews a quick update with regard to his college recruitment.

"Syracuse called," he answered when asked which schools have called this month. "Indiana called. Penn State called. I think that's it."

He hasn't heard from childhood favorite Notre Dame recently.

Penn State Coach Ron Vanderlinden has maintained contact.

"The last time he called, we were talking about the game against Pittsburgh [Central Catholic]."

Is Penn State his current favorite?

"Yes, Penn State and Syracuse."

Both the Nittany Lions and Orangemen are recruiting Quinn to play linebacker. Steve plans to make his final decision "fairly soon". He further estimated that he would wait "no more than a week".

What does he like about each of his two favorites?

Penn State: "It's kind of close and it's in Pennsylvania and I got to meet Paterno which was real neat."

Syracuse: "When I was there, I just had a good feeling about it. I like the coaches."

Steve, just about fully recovered from an ankle injury he suffered in mid-July, hopes his team rebounds this coming Saturday when they take on Cleveland St. Ignatius.

"I think we'll be fine. We made a lot of mistakes."
