PA OL Mark Farris Update

Mark Farris of Pittsburgh, PA is unanimously considered to be one of the best offensive line prospects in the country. He will take an official visit to Penn State next month.

Name: Mark Farris
Position: OL / DT
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 280 pounds
40-yard dash: 5.0
Bench Press: 375 pounds
School: North Hills High School, Pittsburgh, PA

Mark has already taken an official visit to Pitt on December 8.  His most recent visit was to Miami on December 15.

"It went well.  It's a nice campus.  Everything was nice.  I've never been down to Florida, so I got a good feel for it."

Who was Mark's host during his visit to Miami?

"He was a redshirt QB (Buck Ortega).  There are a bunch of nice kids down there.

"Now, I just need to finish up my trips and compare it with everything else."

Mark will take at least one more official visit.

"I'm going to visit Penn State, and probably Michigan State and Florida.  Penn State is the definite scheduled one.  It will be on the 18th of January.  I haven't scheduled [visits to Michigan State or Florida] yet.

"Everyone is even in my eyes right now until I take all of my visits, and then we'll see what happens."

Is Mark looking for a program with the greatest opportunity for early playing time?

"No, not really, just how I fit in as a person at those places."

According to Mark, distance to a prospective school will not be a determining factor.

Penn State is recruiting him as an offensive lineman.

Mark is friends with Penn State freshman tight end Andrew Richardson, who was Mark's teammate last year at North Hills High.

He visited Penn State unofficially this year for the game against Ohio State, Joe Paterno's record-breaking 324th victory.  He also visited Pitt for the Panther's game against Miami.

He will be playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 5 in San Antonio.
