Nittany Lions Offer Jersey Back

Dajuane Collins, cousin to brothers Andre, Gerry, Phil, Jason and Aaron who all played for Penn State in the 80s and 90s, held the Nittany Lions as one of his early favorites. The Nittany Lions finally offered recently. Was it enough to put them in contention, or was it too little too late?

Name: Dajuan Collins
Position: RB,S
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 187 pounds
40-Yard dash: 4.5 seconds
School: Deptford Township HS, Deptford, NJ

Deptford (NJ) running back Dajuane Collins has managed to evade recruiting expert's but not college recruiters. Collins has quietly collected close to 40 offers from schools such as Wisconsin, Maryland, Purdue, UNC, NC State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Louisville. He has scaled the list to five that he is currently looking at Boston College, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Louisville.

"I'm getting looks as a strong safety and at running back. Boston College, Wisconsin, and Louisville like me as a RB. Minnesota and Syracuse are looking at me as a SS, those are my current favorites," said Collins.

Does this mean Penn State is out of the picture?

"I was interested in them, but I had over 25 offers before they offered."

"As of today they are not in my top five, things could change but I have five schools I like."

As a junior Collins ran for 1,071 yards, and 9 touchdowns good enough to earn him 2nd Team All-Group III, All-South Jersey, All-County, and All-Tri County honors. On defense he registered 80 tackles and 2 interceptions.

Deptford is currently (6-0) Collins has run for 800 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Don't expect a commitment from Collins in the near future.

"I plan on taking all five of my visits before I decide anything, I won't take any until after the season."
