Will Ahmad Brooks Visit PSU?

Ahmad Brooks is arguably the top linebacker prospect in the nation. Does he actually have an official visit to Penn State scheduled?

Name: Ahmad Brooks
Position: LB / RB
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 230 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.5
Bench Press: 360 pounds
School: C.D. Hylton, Woodbridge, Virginia

Ahmad recently scheduled a 5th official visit.

"Yeah, to Penn State," Ahmad said.  "They called me back and wanted me to schedule it."

Ahmad will visit State College on February 1.  He plans to take all 5 of his official visits before making his final decision.

"I'm taking all 5 visits.  I don't have any favorites right now."

Other talented high school prospects have been trying to recruit Ahmad.

"Everybody is trying to get me to go to the school that they committed to.  I don't see why not.  They're just trying to get good players to go to the same school so that they can have a good program for the coming years."

Will that affect his decision?

"It makes me think about it, but it's not going to make me change my decision."

What is Ahmad looking for in a school?

"I want to start early in my career.  I'm also interested in the academic programs that the different schools have."

Ahmad is set to take official visits to Florida State this weekend, Virginia on January 18 and Tennessee on January 25.  He's already visited Virginia Tech.

Ahmad was at Penn State last year for the Nike Camp, but did not have a chance to check out the campus.

Why did he decide to visit Penn State?

"Because it's Linebacker-U, and plus it's kind of close to home.  It's not in-state, but it's still close to home."

Penn State coach Larry Johnson is recruiting him.

"I met him in person.  He came to my school several times, but hasn't had the chance to come to my house yet.

"He called me last night as a matter of fact.  He was just telling me that he wanted to come to my house sometime next week and talk to my parents and show me some of the stuff they had to offer."
