"I had a game Friday, so we drove up Saturday morning," Anthony said on Sunday evening, December 5. "Basically, I went on a tour around campus, around the facilities and everything. I ate lunch with the coaches at some restaurant. They took us to the stadium and gave us a tour there. I went back to the hotel and took a nap and then went back out to dinner with Coach [Joe] Paterno. Then I went with my host, Matt Hahn, for the rest of the night."
Anthony said PSU is recruiting him to play free safety and that they are looking to sign "probably 2 or 3" safeties.
"I had a great time. It was great."
On a scale of 1 to 10, he gave the visit a 10. Did he make a commitment?
"No, not yet. I'm going to take a couple more visits. Before Christmas I should know what I want to do. I'm going to Wisconsin this weekend coming up and then I'm going to Georgia Tech."
In addition to Penn State, Georgia Tech and Wisconsin, Stanford, Minnesota, Temple and Vanderbilt are among others that have offered.
Is Anthony, also an excellent baseball player, looking to play baseball in college as well?
"Well, I'm going to go to college on a football scholarship, but if I have a chance to play baseball in college then that's different, but I'm going take a football scholarship and play football."
Does PSU lead?
"Yeah, they lead."
What changed to put the Nittany Lions on top?
"They hadn't offered me. They offered me about two or three weeks ago, so I didn't really know what was going on. After they offered, they moved up a little bit. Stanford was right at the top, but the whole coaching staff got fired and everything, so I just kind of put that out. With Georgia Tech coming in, it was probably going to be between Georgia Tech or Penn State after talking with my parents. I went over a lot of things and those two best fit me."
Georgia Tech is currently his 2nd favorite followed by Wisconsin.
Penn State assistant coach Ron Vanderlinden is recruiting Scirrotto. Anthony said PSU offered him in writing after evaluating his senior film and considering their need for safeties.
PSU didn't pressure him to commit.
Was the visit better than he expected?
"Well, I expected it to be good, but it turned out great."
Did they address JoePa's future?
"They said he was going to be here and he said he was going to be there. He really wants to get another national championship and he thinks that with the recruiting class and the talent that they have, they just need to find a couple of specialty players and they should be on their way."
