Fentress Commitment to Penn State is Strong

Signing day is right around the corner. Fans and recruitniks are busy trying to figure out who will end up with the Nittany Lions. Virginia defensive back Devin Fentress is ready to sign on the dotted line.

Despite Internet scuttlebutt that his commitment to Penn State may have been wavering, Fentress (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) is eager to fax his letter of intent to Joe Paterno.

“I’m real excited, I can’t wait,” Fentress said.

Fentress is often overlooked when people discuss the abundance of speed on the Penn State commitment list. His 40 time at the Richmond football camp last summer (4.39 seconds) proves he can run with the best of them.

“Speed and quickness are my strengths, but I can hit, too,” Fentress said. “I need to work on my reaction time when the ball is in the air, but I can move pretty well.”

Fentress admits other schools still call the house trying to recruit him. That may be where the rumors began.

But his answer gets them moving away quickly.

“I just tell them I’m not interested, because I’m going to Penn State,” Fentress said. “We have some very good recruits coming in, like Justin King and Derrick Williams. Hopefully we can restore the roar in the program.”
