Hayes Talks About PSU Visit

<P>One of the top remaining prospects on the Penn State board is Bayonne, N.J., four-star linebacker Jerome Hayes. Hayes was in State College over the weekend for an official visit. Did he make a decision?

“I had a great time on my visit to Penn State, the people there were real nice,” Jerome Hayes said. “I will not take any more official or unofficial visits, and I will announce my decision on signing day.”

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker had just arrived home and gave us a quick rundown on his official visit.

Penn State is one of four teams still vying for the No. 15 rated LB in the nation according to Scout.com

“I have not eliminated anyone: It’s still Miami, Penn State, Rutgers and Florida,” Hayes said.

Nittany Lion Austin Hinton, who is a native of Secaucus, N.J., and a good friend of Hayes, hosted the talented prospect.

“It was nice seeing Austin again, we try to stay in touch as much as possible,” Hayes said.

As far as a decision goes? “I plan on announcing Wednesday, I’m not sure on the details just yet.”

Hayes, a U.S. Army All-American, finished his senior campaign with 103 tackles, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Hayes also played running back for Bayonne. He finished the season with 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns.
