Walk This Way?

Jeremy Boone wants to set the record straight. The versatile athlete from Mechanicsburg (Pa.) High has not agreed to join the Penn State football team as an invited walk-on. It may happen, but he is still very much in the decision-making process. When will he make the call?

Reports have speculated that Mechanicsburg (Pa.) High punter Jeremy Boone has accepted Penn State’s offer to come to school as a preferred walk on. Is there any truth to the rumors?

“No, I’m not 100 percent sure of where I am going,” Boone said. “I’m going to decide between Delaware and Penn State on Friday. Both schools want me to walk on as a punter. Penn State also likes my kicking abilities.”

Boone had quite the storied football career at Mechanicsburg. During his senior season he caught 84 passes for 1,080 yards and seven touchdowns. He connected on 6 of 12 field goal attempts, and a long of 44 yards. He also averaged 45.3 yards per punt.

His statistics were enough to have him named Associated Press first-team Class AAA All-State as a punter, and first team All-Conference as a punter, kicker and wide receiver.

During his junior season he was named second-team Associated Press All-State and first team All-Conference as a punter.

Boone has a 90 percent average in the classroom and has scored 940 on the SAT. He visited Penn State two weekends ago, and took in the Nittany Lion hoop team’s game against Wisconsin. He sat with current PSU punter Jeremy Kapinos.
