Jared Odrick Visit Update

<P>Pennsylvania features a marquee tailback and two can&#146;t-miss quarterbacks. But Jared Odrick may have the most upside of any player in the state. The jumbo athlete was in University Park over the weekend to attend a PSU practice.

Lebanon (Pa.) defensive end/offensive lineman Jared Odrick, 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, could potentially be the most dominant big-man in the Northeast. Odrick took in a recent practice session and had some interesting things to say about the Nittany Lions.

“I went to practice, I had a real good time,” Odrick said. “I have always liked Coach [Larry] Johnson and I know what he can do for his linemen. I enjoyed seeing how he handles his players in practice.”

“I got to watch some film with them, and watch them go through some drills.”

Odrick currently possesses 18 written scholarship offers, but he can only remember 17 of them. North Carolina, LSU, Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa, Duke, Akron, Oklahoma, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Northwestern, Minnesota, West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland.

“I always miss one,” laughed Odrick

Did Odrick’s latest visit help the Nittany Lions chances of landing the All-State performer?

“PSU is definitely up there, I really like Coach [Larry] Johnson,” Odrick said.

Last season at offensive tackle, Odrick did not allow a sack. On defense he registered 90 tackles and nine sacks. He earned second-team Associated Press All-State honors. As a sophomore, he earned third-team All-State honors. Odrick has been selected as a first-team All-County selection three consecutive years.

Odrick will attend the Scout.com Combine at the University of Akron May 28.
