'Snap' Decision For Pitz

<P>After a long debate over staying home and walking on at Iowa State or walking on with his childhood favorite Penn State, he has made a decision. In the end the choice was fairly easy for long snapper Andrew Pitz. On Tuesday he made it official.

“I actually just called Coach [Mike] McQueary about 10 minutes ago,” Pitz said “I told him I decided I’d like to come to Penn State. He seemed happy. He said they were glad to have me.”

Pitz, 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, actually had the chance to meet McQueary a few weeks ago on a visit to State College.

“I flew in there and met Coach McQueary when we were on spring break,” Pitz said.

Andrew Pitz is definitely a PSU fan.

So what finally swayed the Bettendorf, Iowa native to choose the Nittany Lions?

“My mom is a PSU grad, and I’ve always been a Penn State fan,” Pitz said. “We have Penn State stuff all over our house.”

When can Penn State fans expect to see Pitz make an impact at Beaver Stadium?

“They can’t promise me anything, they said I have a chance to make it onto the field early and I should be able to work my way out there,” Pitz said.
