Langhorne (Pa.) Neshaminy defensive tackle Tom McEowen (6-foot-4, 270, 4.9) visited Penn State recently with a few of his teammates, including a soon-to-be Nittany Lion.

“I went there with Chris Daino and Kevin Kelly, we got a tour of the campus,” McEowen said. “I really liked meeting the players, I got to hang out with Derrick Williams a little bit, and we hung out with Mark Rubin.”

Kelly, a kicker, signed with the Nittany Lions in February and is the odds-on favorite to be PSU's starter in the fall.

Meanwhile, the Neshaminy crew actually spent two days in the area on the recent visit.

“On Sunday, we met with the coaches, and Jason Kates, Jared Odrick and Jeremiha Hunter were all up there,” McEowen said.

Published reports have stated that McEowen has narrowed the field to three teams, but he say’s that not necessarily the case.

“I would say there are about six teams I’m really looking at: Penn State, Maryland, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.”

McEowen has set his sights on a possible early September decision, so he will try and get a few more unofficial visits under his belt in the coming months.

“I may hit Florida this summer and maybe Georgia,” McEowen said. “We may take one weekend and go to North Carolina and Virginia on the same trip.”

McEowen’s offer sheet now tops 20. His most recent offers have come from Virginia, Michigan State, Connecticut, Minnesota, North Carolina, Florida, and Louisville.
