Quarless a Happy Camper

One of the top Nittany Lion recruiting targets was on hand last weekend for the Penn State Senior Position camp. And according to most that were in attendance he put on a show. The New York standout gave us an update on his recruitment and even named a few official visits.

Ever since we first saw Uniondale (N.Y.) tight end Andrew Quarless (6-4, 225, 4.6) on his website video we’ve been sold. He is a very special football player. Quarless attended the recent senior camp at Penn State.

“I think I did all right, the coaches said I did well,” Quarless said.

This was Quarless’ second trip to University Park, and it likely will not be his last.

“I think I’m going to take an official visit there,” Quarless said. “I’ll also likely go to Virginia, Miami and Notre Dame. I’m going to try and set up dates for those real soon.”

Quarless also attended a camp session at Virginia recently.

“I did pretty well, the coaches seemed to like what I was doing,” Quarless said.

Virginia, Penn State, Wisconsin and Nebraska were the first teams to offer Quarless a scholarship. Those schools have since been joined by Pittsburgh, Miami and Rutgers.

As a junior, Quarless racked up 39 receptions for 843 yards and 6 touchdowns. The standout athlete also excelled on defense where he recorded 50 tackles and 16 sacks. He earned All-League honors, and was presented the Vincent O’ Connor award as the Defensive Player of the Year in the Catholic League.
