Cantey Sees His Stock Rise

Brooklyn (N.Y.) South Shore linebacker Parker Cantey (6-3, 205, 4.56) is seeing his stock soar as much as anyone in the country right now. Cantey has quietly picked up at least a dozen scholarship offers.

"I'm pretty sure I have offers from Wisconsin, Iowa, Syracuse, Toledo, Buffalo, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Michigan State, Maryland, Rutgers and Connecticut," Cantey said. "Those are the ones I remember, I'd have to check with coach [Tommy] Salvato."

Cantey was dominating last year as a junior. He tallied 70 tackles, 17 sacks and two fumble recoveries. He was named first-team All-City, All-Borough and was selected as his league defensive MVP.

Cantey takes all the offers in stride. He likes the attention but not for himself.

"I'm glad I'm getting some offers, it will give my teammates some exposure," Cantey said.

Cantey is referring to Class of 2007 quarterback prospect David Legree.

The "Sack Machine" will not camp anywhere, but he has taken an unofficial visit.

"I visited Syracuse during the spring," Cantey said. "It went well it was a nice atmosphere. The players and coaches were cool everyone was real tight knit there."

Cantey admits one of his offers took him by surprise.

"Wisconsin never sent a leter to me. They called the school and said they were sending some mail. The very next day I got a U.S. Postal Service package with an offer in it."

As Cantey sorts through his offers trying to figure out the next step, Scout.com will be there to bring you the latest on the recruitment of this fast rising prospect.
