NJ LB/DE Jermaine Dias

Dias, who will probably play outside linebacker in college, has several scholarship offers already. He talks about his early favorites.

Name: Jermaine Dias
Position: DE / TE (will probably play LB this year)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 215 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.6
Bench Press: 315 pounds
School: Hackensack High, Hackensack, NJ

According to Jermaine, some colleges are looking at him to play defensive-end while most see him at the linebacker position.

Jermaine was named 3rd Team All-State.

"I could've easily been 1st Team, it's just that our record (6-4) wasn't so good," Jermaine said.

Dias is already receiving lots of attention from college coaching staffs.

"I have around 15 offers.  I have offers from Virginia, Rutgers, Boston College, Iowa, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Miami, Syracuse and Pitt.  That's all I can remember off the top of my head.  Iowa, Rutgers, Boston College and Virginia are in writing, the rest of them are verbal offers."

Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and West Virginia are some others that have offered according to Jermaine.

"So far, I'm really interested in Rutgers, Boston College and Virginia.  I've been around coaches from Rutgers and Boston College for a while, especially Coach McGovern (Boston College).  He's been around since my freshman year.

"I stay in real close contact with Coach Schiano and Coach Miello from Rutgers.  I basically know the whole staff."

Jermaine is interested in the Scarlet Knights.

"Yeah, I'm interested.  It's close to home and they recruited two of my former players from Hackensack, Cedric Brown and Brian Wilson."

Jermaine also knows Johnny Sylvain who plays for Wisconsin.

He also mentioned having had contact with Coach Golden from Virginia

Dias went to junior days at Rutgers and Boston College so far this year.  Jermaine was not aware of the March 23 junior day at Penn State.

He may attend the Nike Camp at Penn State on April 21.

He attended a camp at Syracuse last summer.  The only college game he attended last year was a game at Rutgers verses UConn.

Is Jermaine interested in Penn State?

"Not really, considering that they picked up Tamba (Hali) and that they also picked up the number two defensive-end in New Jersey from Orange (Jason Alford).  So, their stacked up on the end.  I'm not sure if they're would want me to play outside linebacker or defensive end."

He acknowledged that he would be more interested in Penn State if the coaching staff was looking at him to play linebacker.
