PSU Enters the Race for OL Eliades

Penn State’s late-July “Junior Day” turned out to be more of a junior weekend, with prospects flowing into University Park for unofficial visits from Thursday through Saturday. One of the most high-profile recruits was an offensive lineman from New Jersey who held a verbal offer from the Nittany Lions. Is it official now?

For several months, Oakhurst (N.J.) Ocean Township offensive lineman Lou Eliades (6-4, 283, 5.0) has held a verbal offer from Penn State. Eliades visited University Park on Thursday in hopes of leaving with an official written offer.

“It was really a spur of the moment trip, I called them Wednesday and set up a visit for Thursday,’ Eliades said. “My mom had to leave for a business trip to Georgia so we decided to head to Penn State before she left.”

Penn State left a favorable impression on the Garden State standout.

“The campus was nice and the facilities are amazing,” Eliades said. “The stadium was unbelievable.”

Did he leave University Park with an official offer?

“Yes, they offered me this weekend; I was very excited to receive the offer.”

With over 20 offers in hand did the trip to Penn State put the Nittany Lions in the mix?

“It put them in my top five with Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland and South Carolina,” Eliades said. “I scheduled an official visit there Oct 8.”
