Maybin Happy With Valley Visit

Antonio Logan-El and Aaron Maybin have said they’ve become close friends. And as the two recollected their recent journey to University Park, they both had almost the same answer to every question. Penn State fans will be happy to know that like Logan-El, Maybin left Happy Valley feeling very good about the Nittany Lions.

Ellicott City (Md.) Mount Hebron defensive end Aaron Maybin was between a visit to Miami and a trip to Florida when we caught up with him to get his take on his recent unofficial visit to Penn State. Maybin is getting as many unofficial visits in as he can before the start of his senior season.

“My trip to Penn State went as good as it possibly could,” Maybin said. “I met with a lot of the people who would be very influential in my academic and athletic career at Penn State. I’d say overall I had a real good visit.”

Maybin was especially excited that once he was away from the watchful eye of the Penn State coaching staff, he had the opportunity to ask several questions to a few current players.

“We were hanging out with the players most of the time when we weren’t with the staff,” he said. “It was nice to here a player’s perspective, but they mostly reiterated everything the coaches said.”

As Logan-El mentioned earlier in the week, he and Maybin may investigate the possibility of attending the same school.

“We’re looking at a lot of the same schools, but I can’t get into exactly which ones right now,” he said. “I will say this I’m setting up an official visit to Penn State. I haven’t set a date yet, but it will happen.”

This week Maybin is taking a Florida tour to Miami, Florida and Florida State.

“Miami went really well,” he said. “We watched practice, but it got cut short because of thunder. I spoke with the coaches, including Coach Coker. I had a chance to check out the academics. Overall it was a good visit.”
