So while our patient search resulted in a bit of short-term frustration for the folks on our site, we believe it allowed us to find an ideal candidate to fill the role, one fully capable of balancing the professional and ethical responsibilities that come along with the position.
Rob Riva is a second-year law student at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Fla. He is enrolled in the Center for Law and Sports, with a focus on sports and business law.
He also has a strong background in sports writing and football recruiting coverage. From 2000-04, Riva worked at Penn State's independent student newspaper, The Daily Collegian. He was the first to fill a newly created position of recruiting staff writer and columnist at The Collegian, and later covered the football beat and served as sports editor.
This new position at FOS will allow Riva to return to his early passions — sports writing and recruiting coverage — while he pursues his dreams in the fields of sports and business law.
As an added bonus for FOS members, Riva currently resides in one of the nation's high school football hotbed states, Florida. On occasion, he will travel to see different Sunshine State prospects play, and offer reports right here on FOS.
The addition of Riva will have no impact on the role Scout.com Northeast recruiting analyst Bob Lichtenfels has at FightOnState.com. Lichtenfels will continue to hit us with frequent recruiting updates, profiles, analysis and breaking news. Likewise, we will still be linked to Scout's extensive network of national and regional recruiting reports.
We hope you join us in formally welcoming Rob Riva to the FightOnState.com staff.
