Penn State Pick 'Em: Cincinnati Game

Game One of the Penn State football season is behind us, with the Nittany Lions dispatching South Florida 23-13 at Beaver Stadium, yet failing to cover the 23-point line. That was bad news for the FOS staff, at least the seven of us who picked PSU to win and cover.

Bob Lichtenfels, with the unfair advantage of closely following USF as an Eastern and Big East recruiting expert, got it right. It was a nice rebound from his Myron Rolle prediction (we kid because we care, Bob).

Also correct was Tom McLaughlin, whose joy over getting the coveted “W” here was mitigated by the fact that his beloved Blue Band was drowned out by the Real Slim Shady.

New recruiting reporter Rob Riva was on the money, too. But since he is new, we'll lay off the smart-alec comments.

The rest of us are in an seven-way tie for last place.

Next up, Penn State tangles with Cincinnati at Beaver Stadium Saturday. Who learned their lesson from picking the Lions to cover a wide spread, who thinks we'll see more offense out of PSU this week and which two winners are gloating like Donald Trump?
