A New Back in the Mix

Running back is an obvious position of need for Penn State. LeSean McCoy appears to be the #1 target on the board, due to the uncertainty of McCoy's interest and being such a high profile recruit the Nittany Lions must have an alternate plan.

Maryland's Ben Tate and Florida's Brandon James will be in University Park on October 8 for official visits, now you can add one more running back to the mix.

Three-star prospect Brent Carter from Pottsgrove, Pa. has a Nittany Lion offer and will be one of eight known visitors for the clash between Penn State and Ohio State in two weeks.

"They (Penn State) actually offered me a long time ago, but I never received it," Carter said. "I told them I never got it so they sent me another written offer. I'll be taking an official visit to Penn State in two weeks."

The Nittany Lions are not alone in their pursuit of Carter. He is also planning trips to four other schools.

"I have Boston College, Penn State, and Virginia scheduled, but I'm not sure of the dates," he said. "I think it's for the Virginia-Florida State game. I'll also visit Minnesota and Syracuse, but I haven't set the dates for those."

The talented 6-foot2, 200 pound, running back recently went over the 3,000 career yards plateau. On the young season he has carried 79 times for 550 yards and nine touchdowns for (2-1) Pottsgrove.

While carter has narrowed down his list to five schools, there is still certain criteria each school will have to meet to land him.

"It will all depend on how comfortable I feel with the coaches, players, and the surroundings," he said.

FightOnState.com will have full reports on each of the scheduled visitors on what is shaping up to be a very important weekend for the Nittany Lions. They will host Aaron Maybin, Ben Tate, Jacques Rickerson, Brandon James, Lou Eliades, Bani Gbadyu, Colin McCarthy, and carter. This list is subject to change.
