New Name: Sean Price

Sean Price is not a name most casual fans know. With all of the outstanding talent in the state of Maryland this season, it's easy for prospects to be overlooked. Yet Price is having an outstanding senior season and attracting a wealth of attention.

Sean Price is a talented running back from the Gilman School in Baltimore. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound standout was in attendance University Park on Saturday for an unofficial visit. Ironically, Price has a connection to Ohio State and that is how he got the transportation to the game.

“One of my coaches is Stan White's father,” Price said. “[White] plays at OSU and tries to get to his games. Penn State has been looking at me so I went up with him.”

“My coaches said I have an offer from [Penn State], but I haven't received it,” he said.

Price has attracted interest from Notre Dame, Boston College, Maryland, Duke, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Penn State, Iowa, N.C. State, North Carolina, Connecticut and Tennessee. Duke has offered him in writing.

“I have a number of verbal offers,” he said. “They all say they want senior film and that they want to come see me play and they'll offer.”

Price was clearly impressed with his trip to Penn State.

“It was very impressive,” he said. “The fan support there is second to none. I have never seen anything like that before. The fans were very hospitable to me and the other recruits.”

Price was also very impressed by the impact of the freshmen at Penn State.

“I love the fact that they are playing their freshman and it's putting them back on the map,' he said. “It shows you the evolution of college football and how much a good recruiting class can change things. I hope to make an early impact like these guys are.”

Gilman is 5-0 on the season, including defeats over such powerhouse programs as St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, Pa., and Maryland power DeMatha Catholic. Price has run for 800 yards and six touchdowns.
