Lions in Hunt for 'Backer

Most of the talk about visitors to Penn State over the weekend centers on the standouts from Maryland. But central Pennsylvania was well represented, as well as, LeSean McCoy, Jared Odrick, Jason Kates and Jeremiha Hunter were on hand as Penn State defeated Ohio State.

Jeremiha Hunter was not on our radar as a player who was expected to be in attendance, but he informed us he did indeed make the trip from Harrisburg to University Park.

“I had a lot of fun, it was a good trip,” the linebacker said. “The crowd was so big and they were crazy there. The only bad thing was the weather.”

The four-star prospect has scheduled official visits to Iowa (10/22) and Tennessee (10/29). Will the Nittany Lions receive one?

“I’m thinking about going to Florida and maybe Georgia,” he said. “Right now it would be between Connecticut, Penn State and Ohio State for the final one.”

In the past, Hunter has said that while he is interested in Penn State, he may not spend an official visit there because it is so close to home and he has made the trip to Happy Valley so many times.

Hunter is enjoying his senior year at his new school after transferring from Manheim Central prior to the start of the season.

“There’s a big difference between the two,” he said. “I’m having fun and getting some great coaching.”

The No. 19 rated linebacker in the nation is also enjoying the chance to play beside his brother, Harrisburg junior linebacker Xzavier Hunter.

“He should’ve been playing beside me last year,” he said. “It’s nice playing with him. He looks up to me so you try and set a good example.”
