As a junior, Wes Jefferson had 163 tackles, 13 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 blocked punts and 2 touchdowns.
Wes attended both the Blue-White game and the Nike Camp at Penn State this past weekend. After the game, Wes got a chance to talk with Coach Johnson, Coach Vanderlinden and Coach Paterno.
He was perhaps the most impressive linebacker during the drills at the Nike Camp. His performance was described by linebackers coach Jerott Willard as being "on a different level."
Jefferson ran a 4.71 40-yard dash at the camp. He also added a time of 4.2 in the 20-yard shuttle.
He said he didn't do well during the reps (repetitions benching 185 pounds), but he didn't scratch the results.
"I did 15, but when I got home, I did 20. I think it's because I changed my grip and it wasn't as wide as I would normally be."
At this time, Wes has scholarship offers from Penn State, Michigan State, Maryland, Virginia, Syracuse, Ohio State and Temple.
"Maryland, Penn State, Florida State and Ohio State" was the order in which he listed his favorites although they are not necessarily listed in order of preference.
"Yesterday (Monday) I talked to a Miami coach. They didn't call me, they called my coach and then I talked to them. Tennessee came by today (Tuesday)."
"During the summer, we're going down south by train to a lot of the southern schools in North Carolina and below. We get to ride the train for free because my father works at Amtrak."
Jefferson does not plan to announce a final decision until the day before signing day next February.
