Taylor Taking His Time

Phillip Taylor is still taking his time setting up his official visits. Rated as a four-star defensive tackle, the Brandywine, Md., athlete from Gwynn Park High has colleges across the nation vying for a trip, and he has four schools on the radar with one trip already in the books.

"I just took one so far to Penn State back on Sept. 10. It went great and I had a good time," Taylor said. "Visit-wise, I am going to go to Maryland, Tennessee, probably Virginia Tech, and maybe Florida, and I might look at a few others."

Maryland, Penn State and Virginia Tech are the top three schools, Taylor added, though he is still taking unofficial visits, having visited Maryland recently for their game against Virginia Tech. Taylor wants to wait until after his football season and after he takes his official visits. His senior year could take some time to complete as Gwynn Park is 9-0 on the year and a candidate to win the state championship.

On that team, Adrian Moten is a linebacker committed to Maryland and Rashad Carmichael is a Virginia Tech commitment at cornerback. Are they trying to recruit Taylor at all?

"A little bit, but my coach does not allow them to do it because he wants the players to pick where they want to go."
