Penn State stamped an express ticket to the BCS with a win over Michigan State in East Lansing Saturday evening. Now that the Nittany Lions are in, why don't you join them (and us), as we are accepting deposits on the official Fight On State Packages?

Because everyone wants to get a jump on their bowl arrangements, and because BCS bowl travel can be a nightmare to set up if not handled as far in advance as possible, we've focused in on the Nittany Lions' most probable bowl destination — the Orange in Miami.

We have a variety of packages available to fit different budgets, and all include round-trip air charter from Harrisburg, Pa. (or commercial air from Pittsburgh or Philadelphia) to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., three nights' stay at one of three outstanding beachfront hotels, game tickets, all transfers and much more.

Land-only packages are also available.

You can see the packages here:

We are partnering in the venture with Premiere Sports Travel, which sent more than 1,100 Sooners Illustrated fans to the Orange Bowl for the national championship game between Oklahoma and USC last season. Sooners Illustrated is back with Premiere this year.

In fact, we are so confident in Premiere, and so intent on making these trips THE Packages for the Fight On State community, that we did not accept advertisements from any other tour companies. Our competition, by comparison, has run ads from multiple travel agents. Who do they trust most? Your guess is as good as ours.

And we're not just sponsoring this trip, we are going to be a big part of it, as many Fight On State staffers and their families -- Playbook Mark, Mark Brennan, Jeff "Ironhead" Byers and photographer Joe Rokita, among them -- will be heading to the bowl with these packages.

Some questions you may be asking:

  • What if Penn State lands in a different bowl?

All of our packages (and your deposits) are fully transferable. We're going to whatever bowl Penn State is going to -- Orange, Fiesta, Rose -- and you'll be going, too. We already have air travel and hotels lined up for the alternate locales. If you can't make it to the alternate bowl, you will get a refund.

  • Will you be adding more options, such as different lengths of stay or different departure sites?

We have already added packages with commercial air out of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Stay tuned for updates on trips of different lengths. And note that if you want to change your package after making a deposit, you can do so.

  • Will these packages sell out?

We think they will go quickly because space is limited. We'd like to thank the more than 3,200 people who registered to be notified when our packages were released. But that DID NOT guarantee you a spot on a tour. Your deposit will assure you of a spot.

  • Why go with Premiere Sports Travel?

Two words: Quality and value. Premiere is a large enough company that it can get the best bulk rates for hotel rooms, charters and commercial flights. The local travel agents can't meet these prices (which may be why the university no longer uses them for its packages). By the same token, publishers of our sister sites that have run tours through Premiere — including Oklahoma and Iowa — tell us their customer service and attention to detail is second to none.

Both sites are going with Premiere again this year, as are the biggest of the Big Ten sites on the Scout network — Ohio State, Wisconsin and now Penn State, Scout's fastest growing site.

You can secure a spot by putting down a deposit on a trip now. Once you make the deposit, you are guaranteed a spot provided you follow through and purchase the package.
