Hazelton: High on Lions After Visit

Penn State is deep at wide receiver, but that is not stopping Joe Paterno and company from attempting to get deeper. The Nittany Lions made their pitch to Vidal Hazelton this weekend and a good pitch it was.

Vidal Hazelton, the second-ranked wide receiver in the nation from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., took his fifth and final visit to Penn State this weekend.

"It was crazy, I had a lot of fun," Hazelton said. "My host was Terrell Golden and I hung out with Andrew Quarless, LeSean McCoy and Maurice Evans most of the time. I would rate the trip a 12, it exceeded my expectations. I like them a lot; they have a real good shot at getting me."

Hazelton and McCoy have become very close during the recruiting process. According to Hazelton, they may carry that friendship into the collegiate ranks.

"Me and LeSean may go to the same school together, we've become like best friends throughout the recruiting process."

Penn State appears to be fairly well stocked at the wide receiver position, but Hazelton adds something that is lacking.

"They need size and I can add that, they can bring me in to complement the smaller, speedier type guys,” he said. “I think I can go and start as a freshman. I was talking with Coach (Mike) McQueary, he coaches the wide receivers, he was cool. I got to talk with Coach (Joe) Paterno and how he is from New York."

Hazelton is video game fanatic who is often found pounding the buttons on his XBOX controllers, so naturally he had to square off against the self proclaimed king of the Penn State squad in Derrick Williams.

"We played: he used Penn State and I used Texas. It was close for three quarters it was like 10-8, then it just got out of hand and it didn't end so good for me," laughed Hazelton

Penn State has made Hazelton's final four along with USC, Virginia Tech, Miami and Virginia Tech.

"Penn State and USC are my top two then Miami and Virginia Tech."
