Walton Back from PSU

Maryland offensive lineman J.B. Walton (6-3, 270, 5.2) said he has two solid leaders, Penn State and Nebraska. He also likes Florida State and feels West Virginia is a possibility as well.

"Penn State and Nebraska are my favorites," Walton said. "They are recruiting me the hardest. They both call and visit me whenever they can and the coaches just keep in contact with me a lot. I like Florida State too. They lost like three straight games and came back to beat Virginia Tech and are now in a BCS game. I like my chances of playing there and I like how they always produce great players."

Walton just got back from visiting the Nittany Lions this weekend. "I loved all the facilities and the prestige they have," Walton said. "They are a great school for football and academics. The offensive line coach (Dick Anderson) said they are losing a lot of guys on the line this year and that I'd be able to play early. They said they don't just want me, they need me."

The only other visit that Walton has already taken was to Nebraska on October 27. "It was a great trip," Walton said. "I was really impressed with everything they have to offer both in football and academically. They've been up and down this year, but ended strong against Colorado," Walton said. "All teams have bad years and even Penn State was struggling before this year. I'm sure Nebraska won't be down too long."

Walton isn't planning any other visits. "It just has to feel right," Walton said. "If I'm comfortable with the place and the people I'll commit. I hope to make up my mind in early January. It's going to be tough choosing, but right now it's really between Penn State and Nebraska."

He reports a 2.5 GPA and is waiting on his December 10 ACT results.
