One Super Day For Former Nittany Lions

Penn Staters played significant roles in Super Bowl XL between Seattle and Pittsburgh. See what Jeff Hartings, Joe Jurevicius and Bobby Engram did for their respective teams in Pittsburgh's 21-10 victory over Seattle.

Super Bowl XL in Detroit had a distinct Penn State flavor to it, as Bobby Engram and Joe Jurevicius started at wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, and Jeff Hartings started at center for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Here is what they did in Pittsburgh's 21-10 win:

BOBBY ENGRAM, SEATTLE:
A game-high six catches for 70 yards. Three catches for 19 yards in the first half.

JOE JUREVICIUS, SEATTLE:
Five catches for a team-high 93 yards. Three catches for 45 yards in the first half.

JEFF HARTINGS, PITTSBURGH:
Helped clear the way for the Steelers to gain 339 total yards and 181 yards on the ground.

The three players have stong ties to one another, as all were key figured on the Nittany Lions' undefeated 1994 team. This was the first Super Bowl for Engram and Hartings, and the third for Jurevicius (XXXV with the Giants and XXXVII with Tampa Bay).

Since the Super Bowl I in 1967, there has been at least one former Lion in the game for every contest except four: 1970, 1972, 1995 and 1999.
