Nittany Notes: Off-Season Update

With the Nittany Lion squad focused on rapidly approaching spring practice, see what the players have been up to and get an update on how Paul Poslsuzny's recovery is progressing since his injury in the Orange Bowl.

Motivating the Troops

The Penn State coaches held a squad meeting on Monday afternoon. As one observer explained, "Joe [Paterno] and the coaches stressed how important it is for the guys to maintain their focus during the winter conditioning period."

Paterno addressed the team, stressing that the it has a tremendous amount of momentum from the close of the 2005 season and Orange Bowl win over Florida State. He went on to say that this winter period will be a defining point for the 2006 season, the success of which depends on each individual player's dedication to their own conditioning heading into spring practice.

The team has had periodic squad meetings since the close of the season which have been focused on "the staff maintaining the motivation of the players and updating them on the recruiting progress with the incoming freshmen."

Posluszny Update

Paul Posluszny's recovery is progressing "really well." Currently he is off his crutches and "walking normal."

Although he is not participating in leg lifting beyond his physical theropy, Poslsuzny is expected to be ready to drill come spring practice.
