George McGinnis, a 5-foot-11, 195 pound running back from Norfolk, Va. (Lake Taylor HS) had his coming out party in 2005 as he led Lake Taylor to a playoff berth. "I had a good year," McGinnis noted. "I played running back and a little linebacker. It went good. I rushed for 1,239-yards and 13 touchdowns."
McGinnis, who plans to attend the Scout.com combine at Durham, believes he has the tools to be a player at the DI level. "I think I've got good vision and can make people miss," he noted. "Speed and power, though. That's what I'm trying to keep getting better with. I'm working now on the track."
Though early in the recruiting process, the Norfolk, Virginia native is hearing from several east coast schools early on. "I've heard from UVa, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Boston College, a whole bunch of schools like that," he noted. Still, it's another group of five that makes up his early top five.
"Let me see," McGinnis said. "I like UVa, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Pittsburgh."
In the coming months, McGinnis will attend the Scout.com All-American combine and will also take in two summer football camps. "I'm supposed to go to two football camps," he said. "I know I'm going to Penn State and I'm supposed to go to Maryland but we'll see about that. I'm also going to the Nike Camp at Clemson."
