Alvarez Talks Nittany Lions

C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Va. means something to Penn State. After all, it's the school that provided walk-on turned star wide receiver Deon Butler to PSU. Now, the school has Will Alvarez, a 6-foot-5, 315 pound offensive lineman who is already receiving strong interest from a wide variety of programs. Where do the Nittany Lions stand and is a PSU offer on the horizon?

Four schools have come through and extended William Alvarez a scholarship offer, while many others plan to join the party during the May Evaluation Period.

"Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Temple [have offered]," said Alvarez. "Penn State seems close to offering. I talk to Coach [Larry] Johnson and he told me when he comes down here this spring, we'll talk about it some more."

Alvarez, a 6-foot-5 310-pound offensive tackle from Woodbridge (Va.) Hylton, is also hearing from Notre Dame, Kansas State, Duke, Tennessee, and Florida.

With new additions very probable, Alvarez neglects to name any favorites at this stage.

"I like all of them," said Alvarez. "I don't have any top schools."

Although Alvarez will skip out on the summer camping circuit, he will be making a handful of unofficial visits this spring. He has already attended Maryland's junior day and is in the process of mapping out a schedule for his spring break in mid-April.

During his junior season, Alvarez led his team in pancake blocks and earned first team all-district, all-region, and all-state recognition.
