Blue-White Breakfast Event

MANALAPAN, N.J. — The Community Refuge Education and Recreation Center today announced the introduction of the Blue-White Scholarship Breakfast to be held at The Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus of Penn State during annual Blue-White Weekend on April 22 at 9 am. Former Nittany Lion safety Lee Rubin is managing the event.

This is the first in what will become an annual breakfast event, which doubles as a fundraiser for the Penn State Pilgrimage, an annual trip which brings dozens of young men, ages 11 to 18, from New Jersey to Penn State for Blue-White Weekend. Over the past several years the pilgrimage has provided a unique experience and powerful exposure to hundreds of young participants.

The Blue-White Scholarship Breakfast is open to all Penn State fans and alumni and will feature a variety of special guest speakers including:

Jerry Sandusky: Penn State's former Defensive Football Coordinator who served the program for 32 years. Under his tenure, Sandusky coached 10 All-American linebackers and 28 bowl games. He has dedicated his life to football and to the youth of Pennsylvania, founding The Second Mile charity which provides services to over 100,000 Pennsylvanian children each year.

Terry Smith: The former Penn State wide receiver now serves as the head football coach and athletic director for the Gateway High School Gators in Monroeville, PA. Smith is a 1987 graduate of Gateway where he led his team to back-to-back WPIAL AAAA championships. He is also a member of the Gateway Sports Hall of Fame.

Don Ferrell: Ferrell was instrumental in creating the academic advising system for PSU student-athletes. Under his direction, the Penn State football program has achieved high academic marks in tandem with the on-field success. He has also served PSU as a coach and assistant professor. Additionally, Ferrell is a member of the Washington-Greene Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

There will also be a silent auction during the breakfast event featuring rare, autographed collectables from former Penn State greats like Lenny Moore, D.J. Dozier, Kyle Brady, Kenny Jackson and Tyoka Jackson, among others.

Finally, some special guests are expected to attend the event including Penn State wide receiver great Bobby Engram of the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks.

This is an event no true Penn State fan can miss! Tickets are just $25 and seating is very limited. To purchase tickets, please send a check, payable to "Community Refuge Education Center" and your name and mailing address to:
