Geolion91 King of FOS Pool

The second-annual NCAA Tournament Pool is in the books, and the winning bracket from the field of 951 entries was submitted by Geolion91. He dominated early round action and rode the backs of LSU and UCLA to the Final Four.

See the final standings here.

Though he had the Bruins winning it all, he had already built up enough of a lead to hold off a late charge from third-place finisher nittanyfan12, the only person on the first page of the leader board who correctly picked Florida to win the tournament.

Also finishing in the prize-winning mix was second-place mdb240 and JoeCrispin, who beat brobbins40 for fourth via tie-breaking criteria.

Geolion91 takes home the Grand prize package, which includes the FOS Year One Commemorative set, a silver Lion pendant from Moyer Jewlers, a signed Blair Thomas e-card from eMMortals, a Nittany Lion windup toy and bobblehead from Nittany Embroidery and Penn State Athletcs, and Orange Bowl sweatshirt and cap from Lions Pride, a Joe Paterno Bobby Dodd Award Coin, a basketball T-shirt and PSU champagne glass from Old State Clothing and PSU Athletics, and a T-shirt from our friends at Lift For Life.

Second, third and fourth place receive smaller prize packages.

The last-place finisher, who takes home a beautiful 1998 NIT Final Bulova Watch, a Jerry Dunn Ping putter and an official PSU Gatorade Squeeze bottle, is PSUFlyfisherman. Apparently a big Big Ten fan, this angler was quickly in over his head when he picked three conference teams -- Iowa, Illinois and Ohio State -- to make the Final Four. He also had perennial NCAA gacker Pitt in the national semifinals.

Next to last place went to HousemanPSU base on tie-breaking criteria. The Houseman will receive an elegant PSU Hoops “Exploding Into the '80s” mirror, but only if he can pick it up or have it delivered in the State College Area.

We'd like to thank everyone who made this year's tournament pool our best ever, including the generous sponsors who provided terrific prizes.

And we'd like to remind everyone that even if your bracket was busted on the first week of NCAA action, there is always next year.

Stay tuned to, because the prizes are going to keep coming. Tomorrow, we announce the winner of a free trip to Penn State's First Annual Fantasy Camp, a prize worth nearly $5,000.
