Rivers, a 6-foot 215-pound linebacker from Wadesboro (N.C.) Anson, also holds offers from Florida, N.C. State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.
While Rivers isn't officially prepared to name favorites, there are approximately ten schools that are bouncing around in his head.
"I just got a lot of [schools] in mind – Penn State, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, [North] Carolina, and [N.C.] State," said Rivers. "All of them have pretty good football programs and play good defense and play in bowl games every year."
Rivers plans to announce his verbal commitment sometime during his senior football season.
A week ago, Rivers was among the solid performers during Scout.com's All-American Combine. After checking in at 5-foot-11 and 206 pounds, Rivers recorded 4.79 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 4.66 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle, 7.78 seconds in the L-cone drill, 34 inches in the vertical jump and 8-feet in the broad jump.
