at Old State Clothing downtown.
Later in the evening, FOS was proud to be a part of the first ever Penn's Civilians' fund-raising dinner in State College, where a host of former Lions (including Engram) gathered to support the program that helps urban children overcome educational challenges. Publisher Mark Harrington attended on our behalf.
And for a couple of hours, we took over The Lion's Den in downtown State College, as well, as staffers and publishers alike shared stories and a couple of cold ones with subscribers at the legendary college hangout. Meanwhile, another publisher was up at our booth in the carnival area outside Beaver Stadium, passing out sample magazines and answering questions from FOS community members.
Saturday morning, we did another webcast from Old State Clothing, were the only media outlet present at former Lion Lee Rubin's Scholarship Breakfast (befitting his program that brings disadvantaged kids to Penn State for a weekend) and — despite the downpour — set up shop back near the carnival area.
After all, what's a little rain among friends?
We think the effort allowed us to generate plenty of good will within the FOS community while producing plenty of content here at FOS. And that content will keep on coming in the next few days. But if you missed any of our coverage over the weekend, rather than having to search back through every story, you can see quick links to everything below.
In the meantime, we'd like to thank long-established businesses like Old State and The Lion's Den for opting to team with us during the weekend. We were in front of Old State all weekend to talk to folks and hand out free FOS magazine issues.
Likewise, we feel honored having been invited to participate in the Penn's Civilians fund-raiser and the Scholarship Breakfast event.
And finally, we'd like to thank Penn State Sports Marketing for finding a spot for us among the corporate booths near Beaver Stadium, a place where we could mingle with thousands of subscribers and Nittany Lion fans.
Here is a rundown of the Blue-White Weekend coverage so far. Stay tuned for more:
