Linebacker Colasanti First to Commit

The first day of the annual NFL Draft is a time when fans of pro teams get excited over the new faces joining their respective clubs. This year, Penn State fans can get excited about some new blood entering their program, too. On Saturday, FOS learned that star Michigan linebacker Chris Colasanti committed to the Nittany Lions.

Colasanti is a 6-foot-2, 235-pounder from Brother Rice High in Bloomfield, Mich. He had offers from a who's-who of Big Ten programs, inclulding Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa and Michigan State. UCLA had also offered.

Colasanti, who visited Penn State Friday on an unofficial basis, is the first player to commit to the Nittany Lions for the Class of 2007. His primary recruiting contact was PSU linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden.
