Vince Hall is considered one of the top linebackers in Virginia, and with good reason. Last season, he registered 28 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and had 3 interceptions, returning 2 for touchdowns.
"I played a little bit of outside linebacker, but I played mostly inside," Vince said.
Hall is being recruited to play LB by all of his favorite schools.
The schools Vince named as having offered him a scholarship include Virginia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Clemson, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Penn State, Maryland and Syracuse.
This summer, Vince has visited Penn State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Virginia.
Did he enjoy his visit to Penn State?
"I went there for camp this summer. It was nice, I liked it," he said with feeling. "I think I did well."
This was not Vince's first exposure to Penn State, as he attended PSU summer camp last year as well.
He spoke with Coaches Bill Kenney, Ron Vanderlinden, and Tom Bradley and was supposed to meet with Joe Paterno, but Coach Paterno was visiting his brother George in the hospital and did not attend camp that week.
Vince told LionNews that he liked the Penn State campus and he was enthusiastic in general about his Penn State experience.
Will he attend any more summer camps?
"I've thought about it, but I'm trying to do unofficial visits to schools."
Reports have recently surfaced that Hall may not be interested in the home state Cavaliers. However, Vince denied those rumors, saying, "The person exaggerated what I said. I'm still interested in UVA. I still have my options open."
When asked if distance would be a factor in his decision, he said he was only looking at schools "within at most 9 1/2 hours."
"To tell you the truth, I'm interested in all the schools that gave me a scholarship."
The following are some of the schools Vince mentioned as standing out right now:
Penn State - Vince said that the coaching staff told him over the phone that he is their number one target at linebacker.
"I like the tradition and Coach Paterno, but then I was talking to my coach and everything, and they don't know how long Coach Paterno is going to be there, but still, it would be an honor to meet him.
"I wouldn't mind playing for him, but it wouldn't really affect my decision if he left or not."
Syracuse - "I haven't been to Syracuse yet. I want to go there and check out their campus."
Maryland - "I like Maryland. I went to their junior day."
Virginia Tech - "Of course Virginia Tech. I've been going to Virginia Tech since like 9th grade to see the campus and everything."
