Nittany Notes: PSU Combine

The Nike Camp at Penn State on Saturday saw an incredible number of prospects from the Class of 2007 invade the University Park campus. Get some news and notes around Saturday's camp, including which prospects and Penn State players were at the recruiting event.

By Fight On State's count upwards of 487 recruits attended Saturday's Nike Camp on Penn State's University Park campus. Here are some notes of interest from today's camp:

  • Under NCAA rules a school is allowed to have one current player serve as an instructor at the camp. Penn State's representative was All-American linebacker and Butkus winner Paul Posluszny (not a bad person to have coaching you through drills).

  • Posluszny's little brother David Posluszny was also at the camp.

  • PSU cornerback Justin King was also making the rounds at today's camp.

  • Scout five-star defensive tackle Marvin Austin was present at the camp. Although he did not participate in the time-tested drills, he did participate in the drills that were not time-tested. As one observer said, "He is huge. His legs are just gigantic."

  • Defensive end/linebacker Nathan Stupar showed up late due to taking the SAT and had very limited participation in the drills.

Although this list is not comprehensive by any stretch, here are some of the bigger names among the recruits participating at Saturday's camp:

  • Richard Muldrow
  • Lamar Milstead
  • Devonte Campbell
  • Jon Ditto
  • Nick Jenkins
  • Josh Allison
  • Tyrod Taylor
  • Toney Clemons
  • Henry Hynoski
  • A.J. Alexander

  • Some other players who attended included Dan Matha, Pat Bostick, Davin Meggett and Paul Simkovich.

  • The MVP of the camp was sophomore running back Joshua Haden from Friendly High School in Fort Washington, Md. The runner-up for MVP honrs was his brother, junior quarterback Joe Haden. The MVP is determined by the best overall SPARQ score of the camp.
