Can Lions Reel in Marks?

Josh Marks likes the outdoors. So much so that on an unofficial visit to Penn State recently, the talented offensive lineman from Southern Columbia High in Catawissa, Pa., went fishing with Nittany Lion recruiting coordinator Mike McQueary. Can Penn State reel in the four-star prospect?

“Coach McQueary took me around and gave me a good tour of the area and the area around the campus,” Marks said. “Coach McQueary and I actually went fishing for a while. We caught like six bass or so. Then we went back and hung out in his office for a while and just watched TV.”

The visit began with Marks arriving at Penn State Sunday morning with his family. Marks was able to meet with Penn State offensive line coach Bill Kenney during the day and got a tour of the campus with McQueary. Marks and his parents finished the day with dinner at The Tavern with McQueary. Once his parents returned home, Marks stayed with Penn State offensive lineman John Shaw overnight.

The next day, Marks had the opportunity to meet with other current Penn State players, including Levi Brown and Paul Posluszny. Later in the afternoon, Marks' parents returned to State College.

“My parents got down there around four,” Marks said. “We met with Coach [Joe] Paterno for about an hour. My parents had some questions and we talked for a while.”

Were all of Marks' questions answered?

“Definitely,” Marks said. “Every question that my parents had or I had were all answered. It was a good weekend.”

This past weekend was also served as graduation weekend Penn State students. Marks was impressed by the influx of people into State College.

“There was actually quite a bit of people graduating,” Marks said. “It was just cool being on campus. The campus is just beautiful. It seemed like there was a decent amount of people there but John was telling me that nobody is really there now and that pretty much everyone comes back for the second [summer] session.”
