Diauntae Morrow, a 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back from Lakewood, Ohio is closing in on two major scholarship offers.
"I talked to the coaches at Illinois and Penn State and they both told me last week that they wanted to offer and that they will be sending me the official letters in the mail," Morrow explained. "I should be getting those offers sometime this week."
Morrow is also beginning to ready himself for the summer camp circuit.
"I am going on the Ted Ginn tour again this year," Morrow said. "I went last year, and I am excited to showcase my talent even more this year.
"After the summer camps are over I may try to work in some visits and make my decision before the season, but I am not going to try to rush it. If I don't have the time I will just wait and take my five visits after the seasons is over."
As a junior, Morrow racked up 75 tackles and eight sacks netting All-County honors for his efforts.
Rochester, Pa., wide receiver Derek Moye, 6-5 and 183 pounds, won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter sprints at the WPIAL Class AA finals at South Side Beaver on Tuesday.
Moye, ran the 100 in 11.18 seconds, the 200 in 22.65 and the 440 in 49.92 seconds. he will now advance to the PIAA State Track and Field Championships on May 26-27th at Shippensburg.
Moye also starts in the outfield for the Rams No. 1 ranked baseball team. The standout wide receiver has picked up recent offers from Penn State, Boston College and Cincinnati. He also holds offers from Pittsburgh, Temple, and Miami (Ohio).
According to Erie (Pa.) Strong Vincent assistant coach Jeff Gibbens, star wide receiver Maurice Williams has picked up an offer from Penn State.
"He has a very tough decision ahead of him now," Gibbens said. "All four of the schools he likes have offered. He wants to stay close to home and Pittsburgh, Penn State, Maryland and West Virginia have all offered him."
