Austin Preparing to Trim List

With over 40 scholarship offers on the table currently from programs around the nation, Marvin Austin discusses his process and timeframe to trim down his list of favorites with Fight On State. Find out what the Scout five star's plan is in the coming months to get to a decision.

Defensive tackle Marvin Austin of Coolidge High in Washington, D.C. has already proven himself to be one of the nation's elite prospects. In fact he estimates that he now has over 40 offers on the table now from programs like USC, Tennessee, Virginia, Notre Dame and Penn State.

"I know it's over 40," Austin said. "I have them from every major program in the nation except for Texas."

Austin estimates that he will trim down his list to 10 schools this coming June. As he explained, "Me and Coach Todd (Amis) talked about it and we agreed I need to focus on Coolidge, so I'm going to cut it down to ten around June 14th. We get out of school that day, then during the season I'll take it down to five."

Austin earned All-Met honors as a junior after he registered more than 80 tackles including 12 for loss, eight sacks, and five forced fumbles last season.
