Big 33 Classic Kicks Off

Quarterback Pat Devlin will be among six future Nittany Lions who will take the field for the Pennsylvania squad in the 49th annual PNC Big 33 Football Classic. This year's game will kick off at 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 17, after being moved up from its traditional July date to comply with new NCAA regulations.

Joining Devlin will be offensive lineman Abe Koroma, running back Travis McBride, and defensive linemen Tom McEowen and Jared Odrick. Rounding out the Penn State contingent will be Nittany Lion walk on Collin Wagner of State College High School, who will handle the kicking duties for the PA squad.

Big 33 week officially gets under way on Friday, June 9 with a 3:00 PM meeting of the Pennsylvania coaching staff, led by head coach Mark Schmidt of Neshaminy High School. Schmidt will be assisted by Craig Sponsky of Bishop Carroll, Kevin Keating of Pottsville, Mike Brennan of Mt. Carmel, Scott Heinauer of Mars and Bob Flaus of Peabody. The Ohio team will arrive in Hershey on Friday afternoon.

Practice sessions for the Big 33 Classic get underway on Saturday, June 10 at 6:00 PM. Highlighting the week will be the annual Big 33 Toyota Honors Banquet on Friday, June 16. Scheduled speakers include Joe Paterno, Charlie Weis, Dave Wannstedt and Al Golden. Fight On State will be bringing you updates all week from Hershey.
