Morgan Plans PSU Visit

I remember watching Derrick Morgan's video a few months back and seeing a very impressive talent that I immediately proclaimed to be the top defensive linemen in the state of Pennsylvania. Back then, Morgan was under the radar, but you knew that would not last long.

Derrick Morgan of Coatesville, Pa., was an unknown commodity three months ago. At that time Morgan was holding a handful of offers. That handful has now blossomed into 19 over recent weeks as Ohio State, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, Cincinnati, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, UConn, Temple and Vanderbilt have all stepped forward with offers joining the likes of Penn State, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Michigan State, Syracuse, West Virginia and others.

Morgan does not get fazed much by new offers, but he did get a little bit excited when his childhood favorite offered.

"Ohio State offered me recently," Morgan said. "Coach (Joe) Daniels is recruiting me, he is pretty cool. I always liked them growing up so I am very curious to see what it is like. I am going out there July 1."

Morgan will be making a few trips over the next three-five weeks including camp dates at NC State next week, Penn State on June 23-24th. He will also take an unofficial trip to Boston College on July 8.

"I'm trying to see as many schools as I can and then I will trim down my list to five this summer," he said. "I plan on taking all five of my official visits." Morgan visited the University of Pittsburgh on Friday.

"It was a good trip," Morgan explained. "I liked the atmosphere on the campus. I met with (Dave) Wannstedt, then I talked with (Paul) Dunn who toured me around, (Greg) Gattuso and (Charlie) Partridge. I would say the trip helped their cause."

The four-star defensive end is working hard to get bigger, stronger and faster.

"I have taken my forty down to a 4.8 and I'm just trying to get into better shape."
