Saunders Talks PSU Offer

Durham, NC defensive end/tight end Wes Saunders has already impressed several schools and he hopes to add to that list this summer. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound product of Riverside High School has offers from Penn State, Maryland, Wake Forest, North Carolina, North Carolina State, East Carolina, Clemson, South Carolina, and Louisville. See what he has to say about PSU.

"The Penn State offer was the most recent and it was totally unexpected but sometimes things just happen," Saunders said.

The interest in Saunders is kind of a mixed bag between tight end and defensive end. "Penn State, Clemson, and North Carolina are recruiting me as a tight end and the rest of the schools like me as a defensive end. Auburn and Virginia have also shown me interest as a defensive end but haven't offered yet.

"North Carolina actually was originally recruiting me as a defensive end but after working out for them at camps and stuff they like me as a tight end," Saunders said.

Saunders also indicated that he does have three favorites at this time. "I would say my favorites right now are North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Penn State," Saunders said. "I am looking for a school with great academics and a great coaching staff because those are the guys that I am going to be around for the next four or five years."

Saunders has two schools in his plans for the rest of the summer at this point as well. "I am still planning on visiting Notre Dame's camp later this summer where I can hopefully get an offer. I also want to get to Penn State hopefully this summer at some point," Saunders said. "I plan on making my decision by the first or second game of the season so I want to get a look this summer."

Saunders has not taken the SAT's to this point and plans on taking them in October.decision by the first or second game of the season so I want to get a look this summer."
