"Watching" the 2006 Nittany Lions

With Penn State players already named to the 2006 Lombardi and Nagurski Award watch lists, it isn't suprising to see Nittany Lions on the watch lists for both the Maxwell and Benarik honors. See a rundown of which Lions have made which lists so far.

With the Butkus, Bednarik and All-American honros already under his belt, Paul Posluszny could be on track to become one the most decorated players in college football history.

Already, the senior captain has been named to the Nagurski and Lombardi Award watch lists and now has been added to the Bednarik watch list for the 2006 season.

Posluszny, the second Nittany Lion to win the Bednarik honor since it's inception in 1995, could also become the second player to become a two-time winner of the award. He is joined by fellow linebackers Dan Connor and Tim Shaw on the list.

Derrick Williams was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, honoring the college football player of the year. Other notable players who made the list are Drew Stanton of Michigan State, Ted Ginn and Troy Smith of Ohio State, Mike Hart and Chad Henne of Michigan and Brady Quinn of Notre Dame.
