PSU Players Gearing Up for Lift For Life

The fourth annual Penn State Football Lift For Life® competition is right around the corner and will be held on Friday, July 14 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Holuba Hall. It's a great preview of the 2006 edition of the Nittany Lions. Get a first look at the team make-ups and when they are scheduled to compete.

For those who don't know, the Lift For Life event is a strength and conditioning competition where which Penn State football players compete as teams of four in an 11 event challenge.

The events include:

Leg Curl
Leg Press
Bag Jumps
Field Challenge I (100 lb. plate carry and dolly push)
Barbell Bench Press
Chin-ups
Iron Cross
Dips
Field Challenge II (same events as Challenge I)
VersaClimber®
Tire Flip

Each event is scored by max repetitions (to failure or in a timed set) in order to award team points. No breaks are permitted between events and each competitor must compete in every event. The team with the most team points at the end of the competition is declared the Lift For Life Champion - a coveted honor for the players.
