FOS Audio: Captains Meet the Press

Penn State captains Paul Posluszny and Levi Brown held a press conference at Beaver Stadium Wednesday afternoon, basically so folks on the Nittany Lion beat could get a crack at the duo before they appear at Big Ten Media Days next week. Hear what they had to say in our free audio file.

Penn State football captains Paul Posluszny and Levi Brown spoke to the press for about 25 minutes, tackling a range of topics from their respective roles on the team to summer workouts to their goals for the 2006 season.

“There's no reason we can't compete for a Big Ten title this year,” said Posluszny, the Butkus-winning linebacker who helped key State's conference title effort in 2005.

Though neither player is considered a rah-rah type of vocal leader, Brown believes that have done a good job keeping the team focused during the off-season. One of the keys, he explained, is heading off problems before head coach Joe Paterno and company are forced to step in.

“You'd rather keep the coaches as uninvolved as possible,” the offensive tackle said with a smile. “It makes things easier.”
