Moye Clicks With PSU Staff

Maurice Williams and Derek Moye appear to be at the top of the wish list right now at wide receiver for Penn State. Moye, his mother and Rochester head coach Gene Matsook made the trek from Beaver County to Happy Valley Monday for an unofficial visit and Scout.com has the details.

Derek Moye, accompanied by his mother and Rochester head man Gene Matsook, ventured to Happy Valley on Monday for an unofficial visit. Matsook, who just happened to marry a PSU alum himself, has been one of the most successful head coaches in the WPIAL in recent history.

“I went there yesterday from about 11:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and watched practice,” Moye said. “I got to sit in some wide receiver meetings and ate lunch and dinner there.”

Moye got a firs hand view at the complexity of the Nittany Lions' offense.

“It was lots of different things. I didn't understand a lot of it, but I felt pretty comfortable,” he said.

Moye also had the chance to spend time with Joe Paterno, Tom Bradley and Mike McQueary.

“The coaches are good guys and good coaches,” Moye said. “Coach Paterno was talking about when he used to be an assistant coach and he recruited in Beaver county. He recruited guys like Babe Parilli, Joe Namath and Jim Garrity. He's cool and pretty funny.”

Moye will make a trip to Pittsburgh on Thursday to watch practice. Most think it is a two-horse race, but Moye is not ready to single out anyone just yet.

Boston College is still in there,” he said. “I just haven't had time to visit them. I'll wait and take an official visit there. I'll visit Pitt and Penn State also.”
