Carolina Prospect Commits

Lineman Quinn Barham, a teammate of Greg Little, says he picked the Nittany Lions Friday. Barham is the 11th player to commit to Penn State for its Class of 2007. See what he had to say to in this update.

Penn State added another commitment to its Class of 2007 recruits in offensive lineman Quinn Barham. Barham, the 6-foot-4, 265-pound prospect from Hillside High in Durham, N.C., said he made his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Friday.

“I committed Friday,” Quinn Barham said. “I spoke with Coach [Bill] Kenney, the offensive line coach. I told him that I want to commit.”

Barham (BEAR-ham) had offers from Duke, East Carolina and Colorado in addition to receiving interest from Louisville, Boston College and North Carolina. He said he was initially surprised to hear from the Nittany Lions.

“[Penn State] offered around mid-July,” Barham said. “I really wasn't expecting it. It was shocking to me. I looked into it and I made a decision to commit.”

What did Barham like about Penn State?

“First of all, the reputation of the school,” he said. “Great football, Joe Paterno, great academics. I haven't taken a visit, but I plan to take that soon. I was thinking about the Michigan game but it may be before then.”

Additionally, Barham attends the same high school as touted prospect Greg Little. The two teammates may make a trip to Happy Valley in the fall together.

“We were talking about coming up together, but we don't know for sure yet,” Barham said. “I know for sure I am going with my parents.”
