Nittany Nation Names Connor POG

Dan Connor already picked up Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Zips of Akron, however the junior linebacker has also been honored by the fans of the Nittany Nation as the FOS Player of the Game for Akron.

Fight On State's Player of the Game honor is the first and only award given to a Penn State football player by the fans of PSU. For the Akron clash, it was an offensive-defensive battle between juniors Anthony Morelli and Dan Connor.

Morelli led the offense with a 16 for 32 performance for 206 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Connor led the defense with 13 tackles and two sacks, creating disruption on nearly every down for Akron QB Luke Getsy.

Here's how the voting ended up:

Dan Connor - 49.8%
Anthony Morelli - 42.8%
Jordan Norwood - 3.0%
Anthony Scirrotto - 2.1%
Derrick Williams - 2.3%
